I write You as a person who is also in my own country concerned with the respect of Human Rights. I wish to express my great concern about the situation of

MANAHEL AL-OTAIBI

I am writing to You regarding the unjust imprisonment of Manahel al-Otaibi. In November 2022, Manahel al-Otaibi was arrested for campaigning for women’s rights online and posting photos of herself at a shopping mall without wearing a traditional abaya. Manahel al-Otaibi has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.

In recent years, Saudi Arabia’s authorities have claimed they are advancing women’s rights in the Kingdom. Manahel al-Otaibi believed these promises and felt freer to express her views and wear what she liked. Now she is sentenced to serving a decade behind bars.

I demand that Manahel al-Otaibi is immediately and unconditionally released, and all charges against her are dropped. Pending her release, please ensure that she has immediate and regular access to her family and medical care and is not subjected to torture and other ill-treatment.  

I thank You for Your attention in this very important matter, I am kindly awaiting for positive news about Manahel al-Otaibi.
